One Month Down

Tucker does not only snore loudly, his vocal cords actually get quite a work out while Emily is shopping. As Emily was looking to purchase some cute clothes for the little go with the family beach trip just weeks away…Tucker wanted no part of it.
Emily had to vacate the premises of not one but two different establishments due to the fussy nature of the youngest Harbach. People stared, Emily was embarassed and Tucker won.
Louding shushing commenced once outside of the stores and outside the earshot of said starting customers but another first for the Harbach’s occured today.

Something that anyone who spends time around Tucker will realize is that he snores, loudly and often. He is probably the loudest baby we have ever been around when he sleeps but we really haven’t been around too many babies so it could be normal.
Emily called the pediatrician office on Monday to make them aware of his snoring and long pauses while sleeping. The nurse called back, asked no questions and told Emily to take Tucker to the ER…now.
So off we went to Moses Cone in downtown Greensboro where Tucker was poked and prodded, tested and listened too but everything seemed fine. The Doctor came in after about 2 hours and took a look at him, asked if we had any questions and told us he was a normal baby.
Babies make noise sometimes, emergency averted and Tucker is allowed to continue to snore as much as he wants. For two first time parents you can imagine the panic but it is never a bad thing to pay for an ER visit if the answer is…your baby is just fine.

This it the photo for the Triad’s Cutest Baby
I can’t explain it but Harbach’s have a knack for winning things. When Brian was in second grade he won a bottle of champagne in a raffle at St. Mary’s in Connecticut. When Cheryl was four years old she won a complete tool set because she loved writing her name and phone number down everywhere, including at a local Sear’s that happened to be doing a drawing with first prize being said tools. Cheryl traded to tools to Paul for a doll later on.
A few year’s ago Emily wanted an Ipod so Brian wrote a poem in for a ESPNRadio show college football contest…first prize was an Ipod and that is how Emily got her first Apple product. And famously in 2007, Brian beat out 35,000 College Football fans by picking the most correct games for the entire season on Rivals.com. The Grand Prize was a 50 Inch Plasma Television which resides in his parents basement…Brian and Emily went to Hawaii for a week :-)
This brings us to the newest Harbach, Tucker. Tucker has been entered in a cutest baby in the Triad contest and since Harbach’s win stuff, winning is what is expected. This time we need your help, please vote for Tucker (baby #142) as often as you would like for the next month so he can win.
Here is the link, you can vote on any of the five websites once a day and you only have to register once. 5 votes a day is the max and you are encouraged to share it with anyone else hoping to make our son a public winner before he hits two months. Of course he is a winner in our hearts already but winning this would be the icing on the cake.

We had a great Easter weekend with the Dittmeier’s as Tucker got to meet Uncle Andrew, Aunt Brooke, Aunt Colleen and cousin Collyns for the first time.
As no surprise to anyone…everyone ate well and Brian got to eat his first Reese’s Egg of the Season on Saturday night. Brian gave up candy, desserts and anything sweet for Lent and actually made it 45 days. That Reese’s Egg was awesome though…Nana likes them a lot too :-)
The success of Brian’s no sweets has started a new trend and now Brian, Brooke, Emily and Nana will attempt to go 4 weeks with no sweets until the beach trip in Pawleys Island. Similar to “The Contest” on Seinfeld, the honor system will be in place but they all can do it.
Tucker is still doing fantastic, most nights he sleeps pretty well…most but not all. His new favorite thing to do is pee and he is quite good at it.
Tucker has peed on his Mommy, he has peed on the Nurse that came for an in home visit, he peed on Aunt Collen and he has been on every piece of Pottery Barn furniture in the house including the Glider that was a solid 4 feet away from him when he decided to turn the firehose on.
The tell-tale blue strip on his diapers always signals to Mom and Dad that he is ready to be changed except for this past Friday. Brian decided to change Tucker but there was nothing there…the shock of this empty diaper gave Tucker just enough time to wiggle the towell blocking his weapon loose so before Brian knew what was happening Tucker was peeing on him.
After laughing and replacing the towell over Tucker until he was finished Brian was ready to continue the changing but removing the towell resulted in more pee headed directly at Dad.
A warning to all who think about changing Tucker Condon Harbach…it is not an “If” but a “When” that you will be peed on. There is no way to stop it, you can only hope to contain it. Proceed with caution, we have created an excellent marksman.

P.S. Pictures coming at some point today of both Brother In Laws and th rest of the Dittmeier clan that visited for Easter…and a few of Tucker.
A range of emotions for Tucker as Emily bathed him for the first time
Our family’s first moments with Tucker
There are some obvious associations with the number 13…Tucker’s first birthday, April 13th 2012 will actually be a Friday the 13th but being born on 4-13 has some nice details as well.
Tucker’s Uncle Scott loves this verse from the Bible, Philippians 4:13…
“I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.”
When you read something like that it lessens all those birthdays that will inevitably end up on Friday the 13th.
